At Qloud Blog, we are thrilled to share the latest updates from Microsoft regarding their Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) and CSP-Hoster programs. These enhancements are set to bring new offers and benefits to our customers and partners, further empowering them to build hosted solutions with speed and scale.
In October 2022, Microsoft expanded the CSP program and introduced hosting benefits under the CSP-Hoster offering. This move was aimed at enabling partners to build hosted solutions more efficiently and allowing their customers to bring their own licenses to hoster. Now, Microsoft is set to introduce new product offers that will benefit CSP customers and partners, and these will also be extended to CSP-Hosters.
One of the most exciting announcements is the significant reduction and simplification of reporting in the CSP-Hoster program. This move will undoubtedly make the program more user-friendly and efficient for all involved.
Starting October 1, 2023, Microsoft will introduce new offers including System Center subscriptions and Extended Security Updates (ESUs). CSP partners will be able to offer System Center as either a 36-month or 12-month subscription to their customers for use on-premises or with an Authorized Outsourcer. CSP-Hoster partners can also offer System Center as part of their hosted solutions to customers.
In addition, CSP partners will be able to offer ESUs for end of support versions of Windows Server and SQL Server. Customers will then have the right to use licenses covered by ESUs on deployments on-premises or within outsourced environments running on Authorized Outsourcers. Customers can also apply ESU licenses to "license-included" workloads acquired from Services Provider Licensing Agreement (SPLA) partners or CSP-Hosters.
However, it's important to note that customers will require Software Assurance (SA) or an equivalent subscription to be eligible to buy the associated ESU. Perpetual licenses alone won't qualify. But a customer doesn't require SA or subscription to utilize ESUs with license-included services purchased from SPLA providers.
Microsoft has also announced a simpler and less frequent reporting system for the CSP-Hoster program. Starting October 1, 2023, CSP-Hoster reporting will be reduced to quarterly reporting versus monthly. Furthermore, CSP-Hosters will no longer need to provide customer tenant IDs for either license-included or BYOL, and they will no longer need to report all products. Quarterly reporting will be for just six products.
To stay up to date on these changes, we recommend participating in the CSP Spotlight and Licensing Updates webinar on October 11, 2023. Also, check the Partner Launch Calendar each month for information on upcoming product launches, and review the ESUs FAQ to learn more.
For any questions, partners can reference the CSP-Hoster program guide for more information on partner requirements and responsibilities. As always, we at Qloud Blog are here to help you navigate these changes and make the most of these exciting new opportunities.
