As Qloud Blog, we are committed to keeping our partners updated on the latest developments in the Microsoft ecosystem. This month, we bring you important updates that will significantly enhance your security posture and protect your customers' tenants.
Microsoft has completed the transition from Delegated Admin Privileges (DAP) to Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP). This transition is a significant milestone in enhancing the security of the partner ecosystem. Partners are advised to review the frequently asked questions related to this milestone and validate the newly created GDAP relationships. If necessary, partners can create a new GDAP relationship with the required Microsoft Entra roles to manage customers.
Starting September 25, the default GDAP will be available in Sandbox, and from October 9, it will be available in production. Partners must explicitly grant granular permissions to security groups in the Default GDAP. It's important to note that from October 9, 2023, DAP will no longer be available with reseller relationships. However, the updated Request Reseller Relationship link will remain available in the Partner Center UI.
The bulk migration tool will be available until the end of November 2023. Partners can continue to create and apply GDAP templates in Microsoft 365 Lighthouse beyond this date. A consent link will be generated for customers. Partners are advised to request GDAP if admin access is required for a customer tenant and disable DAP if DAP relationships are no longer required.
Microsoft 365 Lighthouse now enables GDAP setup for any customer tenant with built-in role recommendations tailored for Managed Service Providers. Partners can create GDAP templates to save settings they’ve configured and reapply them as needed. We encourage partners to familiarize themselves with the new GDAP UI in Admin Relationships and Role assignments to Security Groups within Partner Center.
In other updates, Microsoft Entra ID is now called Microsoft Entra ID, and Endpoint Manager has been renamed to Microsoft Intune under Administer Services in Service Management page.
Looking ahead, starting October 30, 2023, partners will be able to auto extend new or existing GDAPs by 6 months. Furthermore, Azure AD Graph will be retired soon, and all partners must take steps to migrate existing apps/APIs on Azure AD Graph to Microsoft Graph.
We encourage partners to strengthen their security posture and navigate the evolving threat landscape with Microsoft cybersecurity tools and resources.
