In a recent announcement, Microsoft has revealed that it will be sunsetting the Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise grant for the nonprofit sector. This decision comes after previous community posts in July and September 2023, where the tech giant shared its plans to update its grant portfolio.
Microsoft had initially informed customers about this change through direct communication and had requested partners to prepare their nonprofit customers for a transition to a different offer. However, due to a bug in the catalog system, customers were still able to renew the retired Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise grant offer. This was instead of transitioning to the current Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise discounted offer.
To rectify this, Microsoft will be updating all active subscriptions of the Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise grant offer to disable auto-renewal. Customers who renewed the legacy grant after October 1, 2023, will be allowed to continue the legacy grant until the end of their new subscription period. After this, they will need to transition to a different offer.
If customers fail to migrate to a new subscription for Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise before their next renewal date, their subscription will move into an expired state. For 90 days after expiration, customer administrators will be able to access subscription data for export purposes. However, users will no longer have access to Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise services or data. After the 90-day period, the limited access will be revoked, and the data deleted.
Microsoft is urging customers to move to the current Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise discounted offer as soon as possible to avoid disruption and potential data loss. The company is also calling on partners to proactively reach out to their nonprofit customers to support their move to a different SKU and assist with any technology needs they might have.
For further information, Microsoft has provided an updated Dynamics 365 Grant Sunset FAQ and a partner letter, both of which can be reviewed for a more detailed understanding of the changes. If there are any questions or concerns, Microsoft encourages users to reach out to them directly.
At Qloud Blog, we understand that such changes can be challenging for nonprofit organizations. We encourage all our readers to stay informed and take the necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition.
