In an effort to bolster security measures and protect customer tenants, Microsoft has announced a series of important capabilities and updates. As a trusted partner, we at Qloud Blog are excited to share these developments with our readers.
One of the most significant updates is the introduction of a new MFA Statistics page. This page displays the number of partner tenant admin and non-admin users who have MFA enabled. Considering that 99% of compromised accounts do not have MFA enabled, this feature is a crucial step towards enhancing security. We urge our partners to review the MFA Statistics in the Partner Center documentation to learn more about this feature.
Microsoft has also announced that starting from March 2024, security defaults will be enabled on all CSP partner tenants that haven't already enabled security defaults, conditional access, or a third-party multifactor authentication (MFA) solution. We recommend that partners turn on security defaults immediately to benefit from this added layer of security.
In addition to the MFA Statistics page, the Insights workspace will soon feature a new Customer MFA Statistics page. This page will provide valuable information about the number of customers in the partner's tenant, and the number that have MFA enabled for admin and non-admin users. This will be instrumental in tracking the adoption and usage of MFA within the partner's customer base.
Another exciting development is the upcoming Security workspace in the Partner Center. This centralized platform is designed to help partners assess their security situation and take necessary actions to improve their security posture. The workspace promises to simplify the user experience, offer educational resources, and act as a one-stop-shop for all security-related items in Partner Center.
Microsoft also reminds partners about the Compliance admin role in Partner Center, which allows partners to authorize a point of contact for compliance-related matters. It's important to ensure this role has been assigned to someone in your company and that the point of contact is kept current as change happens within your company.
Furthermore, Microsoft is encouraging partners to improve their Partner Center Security Score. The Security Score feature provides a summary of security requirements and recommendations to help partners improve their security and health and mitigate risk areas.
In terms of device management, starting January 31, 2024, granular delegated admin permissions relationships will be required. Microsoft recommends the Directory Reader as the least privileged role for this action.
As Microsoft continues to strengthen the security posture for partners and customers, they will begin expanding into Microsoft Entra error codes along with Conditional Access Policy enforcement for all Partner Center APIs. These changes are expected to roll out by January 22, 2024.
In conclusion, Microsoft's latest updates and capabilities are designed to enhance security measures and protect customer tenants. We at Qloud Blog encourage our partners to take full advantage of these features and continue to prioritize security in their operations.
