As a leading platform for cloud solutions, we at Qloud Blog are excited to share Microsoft's latest announcement regarding a new state they are introducing, known as the end of sale with conversions (EndOfSaleWithConversions). This new state is set to revolutionize the way Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners upgrade to selected product/SKU/terms destinations that are no longer available for new purchase, but are now available for conversion.
The concept of end of sale (EOS) is not new. It represents offers that are no longer available for purchase in the new commerce experience. EOS scenarios can apply to entire product/SKUs, regions/markets, and specific term durations. However, the introduction of EndOfSaleWithConversions adds a new dimension to this concept.
As of February 1, 2024, EndOfSaleWithConversions is now available in the Partner Center Portal. Eligible EndOfSaleWithConversions destination subscriptions will show under the Upgrade Subscription flow, within the Eligible upgrades section. This applies to both immediate and scheduled upgrades.
While there are no changes to the API schema, including request/response, partners can use the Get transition eligibility API call to show a customer’s upgrade paths that include eligible EndOfSaleWithConversions destination subscriptions. As with other upgrades, partners can upgrade using EndOfSaleWithConversions Catalog Item IDs for the upgrade action.
In terms of pricing, the price list preview will continue to show products moving to EOS in that preview month, including the new state, EndOfSaleWithConversions. However, it's important to note that partners won't be able to change term or billing frequency for EndOfSaleWithConversions destinations as with the existing EOS behavior. Nevertheless, partners can update seats and coterm their subscriptions.
This new development is a testament to Microsoft's commitment to continually enhance the user experience and provide more flexibility and options for their partners. We encourage our readers to learn more about end of sale and the new EndOfSaleWithConversions state to fully leverage the benefits it offers.
