We at Qloud Blog are thrilled to share the news that Microsoft has made the asynchronous APIs for retrieving billed and unbilled daily rated usage data generally available in Partner Center. This development is a significant step forward, offering a faster and more manageable method to access billing and reconciliation data through Azure blobs. With these APIs, the need to keep a connection open for hours or loop through millions of transactions one by one is eliminated.
The asynchronous APIs utilize valet key and asynchronous request-reply patterns. When these APIs are used, a token is provided that can be used to access either all the attributes or a subset of the daily rated usage reconciliation data. To access the data asynchronously, you can refer to Microsoft's guide on retrieving billed and unbilled daily rated usage data asynchronously.
It's important to note that the current synchronous API V1 and asynchronous API V2 (beta) will continue to operate alongside the new generally available (GA) asynchronous API V2. If you're currently using API V2 beta, you can upgrade to the GA version with minimal changes. If you're using synchronous API V1, we recommend upgrading to the GA version of API V2 to leverage the new features.
Currently, these APIs are only available for the MS Graph public/global cloud. They are not yet available for Azure Government, Azure Germany, or Azure China 21Vianet.
The asynchronous APIs come with several benefits that can help you save time and improve your data retrieval process. They are over 85% faster than the existing synchronous APIs, allowing for quicker and more efficient data retrieval. The data is delivered in a compressed JSON format, reducing the size of the data. The APIs also allow for customizable responses, where you can select the attributes you want to include in the response, reducing payload and making it easier to work with the data.
To get started with the new asynchronous APIs, review the documentation and sample code provided by Microsoft. Inform your developers and request that they update your existing systems to integrate with the new APIs. Use the endpoints for billed and unbilled usage data, depending on your needs.
Microsoft has also announced that the asynchronous API V2 for invoice reconciliation data will soon be available as a pilot program for a select group of partners. We will keep you updated on this development.
We believe that the asynchronous APIs will be beneficial and convenient for your reconciliation needs. We encourage you to share your feedback to help Microsoft improve the APIs.
