In a significant development, the New Commerce Experience (NCE) now supports the acquisition of toll-free numbers for Microsoft Teams. This is a major step forward, particularly for Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners, direct-bill partners, and indirect providers who use NCE license-based pricing across all markets and currencies.
Before this development, customers had to subscribe to Communication Credits to acquire toll-free numbers for Audio Conferencing, auto attendant, and call queue capabilities available with Microsoft Teams Phone. This requirement posed a barrier for customers on NCE who wanted to acquire toll-free numbers.
For customers transitioning from the legacy system (Communication Credits) to NCE or those who have already made the switch, partners must ensure that pay-as-you-go is set up for toll-free numbers in the customer's subscription. This can be done through the New commerce telco pay-as-you-go - Partner Center. Additionally, customers can buy a pay-as-you-go calling plan for their Microsoft Teams subscription.
It's important to note that if customers have the "Auto-recharge" flag enabled within their account, it will automatically refill their Communications Credit balance to the configured threshold level. To utilize the consumption meter, this option must be disabled. Otherwise, the Communications Credit balance will indefinitely refill itself, and the commerce system won't switch to the post-pay mechanism.
When the Communications Credit has a positive balance, the commerce tool uses the remaining Communication Credits for billing until the balance is depleted. Once the Communications Credit balance is zero, and telco pay-as-you-go has been set up for the customer by the CSP, the commerce system moves the customer to postpaid and the new meter is validated.
This new development is a significant milestone in enhancing the user experience and providing more flexibility and control over their communication needs.
