As a leading source of information in the tech industry, we at Qloud Blog are committed to keeping our readers updated with the latest developments. Today, we bring you news from Microsoft regarding the retirement of the v1 version of their new commerce API that retrieves billed invoice reconciliation line items.
Microsoft has announced that this API will retire soon, and users are advised to migrate to the newest API available on MS Graph before the retirement date. The retirement date has been set for September 30, 2024. This change will impact all global CSP partners.
The APIs being retired include those for getting daily rated usage reconciliation line items, both billed and unbilled. After the retirement date, users will no longer be able to access any invoice reconciliation line items created from October 2024 onwards using the v1 API.
However, it's important to note that the v1 API will not stop working after its retirement date. It will still be available and functional for past invoice line items. Users are advised to use only the v1 API to get invoice line items for invoices that were created for billing periods prior to February 2024. For invoices created for billing periods between February 2024 and September 2024, users should continue using the v1 API unless they've switched to v2 GA. From February 2024 onwards, only the v2 GA API should be used to get invoice line items.
Currently, the newest API is only available for the MS Graph public/global cloud. It is not yet available for Azure Government, Azure Germany, or Azure China 21Vianet.
Migrating to the latest version of the API will ensure uninterrupted retrieval of billed invoice reconciliation line items. The latest version is asynchronous and includes new features and enhancements to improve user experience.
Some of the advantages of the new API include faster data retrieval, compressed payload, no need for persistent connectivity, improved reconciliation with a new attribute, customizable response, and convenient data access.
In particular, the new API is over 85% faster than the existing synchronous API, allowing users to retrieve data more quickly and efficiently. Data is delivered in compressed JSON format, reducing the size of the data. Users can retrieve data without needing to maintain a constant connection or go through repeated cycles.
The API response now contains a new attribute, "ProductCategory," which enables users to bill customers and reconcile transactions efficiently based on product categories. Users can select attributes they want to include in the response, reducing the payload and making it easier to work with the data. Data is split into segments based on the number of records, making it easier to access.
We at Qloud Blog will continue to keep you updated on any further developments regarding this matter.
