We are thrilled to share the news that Microsoft has made the asynchronous API for retrieving billed invoice reconciliation line items generally available in the Partner Center. This API is a game-changer, offering a faster and more efficient way to access billing and reconciliation data through Azure blobs. The need to keep a connection open for hours or loop through millions of transactions in batches of 2000 at a time is now a thing of the past.
The asynchronous API utilizes valet key and asynchronous request-reply patterns. It provides a shared access signature (SAS) token that can be used to access either all the attributes or a subset of the billed invoice reconciliation data. To access the data asynchronously, you can follow the steps provided in the Billed invoice reconciliation API v2 (GA) link.
It's important to note that API v1 and v2 will operate separately and simultaneously, without depending on each other. The new API response has introduced a new attribute called ProductCategory. If you're currently using API v1, we highly recommend upgrading to the GA version of API v2 to leverage some of the significant features described in the Benefits section.
However, please be aware that this API is currently only available for the MS Graph public/global cloud. It is not yet available for Azure Government, Azure Germany, or Azure China 21Vianet.
The asynchronous API comes with a host of benefits that can significantly enhance your productivity and reconciliation experience. It retrieves data over 85% faster than the existing synchronous API. The data is delivered in the compressed JSON format, reducing the size of the data. There's no need for persistent connectivity, and you can retrieve data without having to maintain a constant connection or go through repeated cycles.
The API response now includes a new attribute, ProductCategory, which allows you to bill customers and reconcile transactions efficiently based on product categories. The response is customizable, allowing you to select the attributes you want to include. This feature reduces the payload and makes it easier to work with the data. Additionally, the data is split into segments based on the number of records, making it more accessible.
We encourage you to review the documentation and sample code to learn how to use this API. Please inform your developers and request that they update your existing systems to integrate with the new API.
We believe that the asynchronous API will prove to be a valuable tool for your reconciliation needs. We look forward to hearing your feedback to help us continue improving the API.
