In a recent announcement, Microsoft has made significant strides in its Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) new commerce migration paths. The Partner Center has now added migration support for several offers that previously required manual migration. This development is a significant step forward for CSP direct bill partners and indirect providers, as it streamlines the migration process and enhances user experience.
Previously, certain offers could only be migrated manually due to specific issues. However, these issues have now been resolved, and these offers can now be migrated using the Partner Center user experiences and migration APIs. This means that partners can now easily migrate these offers using either the Partner Center user experiences or the Partner Center migration APIs.
Starting May 1, 2024, these offers will be included in the Microsoft-led migration. Legacy subscriptions for these offers will automatically renew to new commerce (NCE) subscription terms if their end dates are after May 1, 2024. For partners who do not wish to have their subscriptions migrated, they have the option to cancel their legacy subscriptions at any time before the migration. The legacy offer matrix NCE Mapping file has been updated to reflect these changes.
Among the newly enabled migratable offers are Microsoft Entra ID P1, Intune, Azure Information Protection Premium P1, Intune per-device for Enterprise, Intune Extra Storage, and Microsoft Teams Domestic Calling Plan for US and Canada. Each of these offers has been assigned a new commerce SKU name and a new commerce product ID/SKU ID.
Moving forward, partners are encouraged to review the Microsoft-led documentation to answer any questions they might have about migrations. They should also review the latest CSP offer retirement guide, engage with their customers, and ensure they are meeting their needs with the latest available new commerce product SKUs. It's also important to anticipate future waves of offer retirements that will become available in continual updates to the retirement guide.
At Qloud Blog, we are excited about these developments and the positive impact they will have on our partners and customers. We encourage anyone with questions or in need of more information to reach out to Partner Support. We look forward to continuing to provide updates on Microsoft's advancements in the cloud solution provider space.
