Microsoft has recently announced an important update to the new commerce migration timeline for Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Government Community Cloud (GCC), education, and nonprofit legacy offers. This update, announced on April 22, 2024, impacts CSP partners in all markets, countries, and regions transacting Public Sector.
The revised timeline indicates that starting from August 1, 2024, new subscription purchases for available Public Sector product SKUs must be on new commerce. The July 1 price list preview will reflect these legacy offers as deprecated (DEPR). This is a shift from the previously announced date of May 1, 2024, providing CSP partners with additional time to prepare for this transition.
In addition to the change in the timeline for new subscription purchases, Microsoft has also updated the start date for its migration effort. The tech giant will now begin its migration effort with Public Sector offers renewing no earlier than September 1, 2024. This is a significant change from the previously announced start date of July 1, 2024. The migration will continue with all offers renewing throughout the calendar years 2024 and 2025.
Microsoft encourages partners to prioritize migrating their customers from legacy to new commerce during this period. The end of legacy incentives has also been pushed back from December 31, 2024, to March 31, 2025, providing additional support for partners during this transition period.
As a next step, Microsoft advises all CSP partners to share this information with all appropriate contacts within their organizations. Partners can learn more about the Microsoft-led migration and the Partner Center migration support for previous manual migration offers to help facilitate this transition.
At Qloud Blog, we understand the importance of staying updated with the latest developments and changes in the tech industry. We will continue to provide timely updates on Microsoft's announcements and how they impact the CSP partners and the broader tech community.
