As of May 1, 2024, Microsoft will be rolling out its Copilot for Microsoft 365 for higher education institutions. This new feature will be available as an add-on for students aged 18 and above. The purchase can be made through their licensing provider with Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) volume licensing, Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), or Microsoft account team.
To be eligible for this add-on, students or faculty must be assigned Microsoft 365 or Office 365 A3 or A5 licenses. However, Microsoft has announced that from May 15, 2024, the eligibility will be expanded to include A1 licenses as well.
In a significant update, Microsoft has removed the minimum seat purchase requirement for Copilot for Microsoft 365 across all channels and segments. However, customers must have a product license of one of the prerequisite base SKUs for each seat of Copilot for Microsoft 365 they purchase.
For more information on how to transact Copilot for Microsoft 365, partners can refer to the original CSP announcement in Partner Center from January. It's important to note that all new CSP SKUs will need to utilize the new commerce experience (NCE) moving forward.
Microsoft has also announced that customers in China will be able to purchase via web direct for faculty starting on April 5, 2024.
