In our continuous effort to keep you updated with the latest developments in the tech world, we bring to you the important actions that partners need to take to secure the partner ecosystem. Microsoft has recently announced some crucial capabilities and updates to enhance your security posture and protect your customers' tenants.
Last November, Microsoft launched the Secure Future Initiative (SFI), a comprehensive strategy to combat the increasing scale and sophistication of cyberattacks. The initiative aims to advance cybersecurity protection across new products and legacy infrastructures. As part of this initiative, Microsoft has prioritized security over all other features and is implementing immediate and future changes that may affect some partners, sometimes with very little notice.
One of the significant changes is the implementation of Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for all Azure users starting from July 2024. This move is aimed at enhancing the security of user accounts and preventing unauthorized access.
Microsoft has also introduced the Security workspace in Partner Center starting from May 2024. This centralized platform allows partners to evaluate their security situation and take the required actions to enhance their security posture. It simplifies the user experience, provides learning resources, and serves as a single place for all security-related matters in Partner Center.
Another important update is the ability for partners to remove the Global Administrator role. Partners can now use the new filter "Having Global Administrator" to display Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP)s that have the Global Administrator role. This feature allows partners to remove Global Administrator role against an active admin relationship along with access assignments.
Microsoft is also set to release a newer version of Security Alert API, the Microsoft Graph Security Alerts API V1, on July 31, 2024. This unified API gateway across Microsoft services will replace the existing Azure fraud notification API, which will be deprecated by the end of 2024.
As a partner, it's crucial to stay updated with these changes and take necessary actions to secure your ecosystem.
