Microsoft has recently announced that it will be making significant improvements to the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) new commerce experience (NCE) with updates to the license-based services price lists. This follows the recent change to the Legacy Microsoft Reserved Instances price list.
The new features are expected to be rolled out by the end of the third quarter (Q3) of 2024. One of the key updates will be the implementation of a change indicator to identify whether items are being added, changed, or deleted. This will be particularly useful for partners to quickly filter changes month over month.
The change indicator will be introduced as a new column in the Final Price List (FPL) of the NCE license-based services price list. This column, labeled as A/C/D/U, will contain one of four possible values: Add, Change, Delete, or Unchanged. These values will represent whether a new product SKU is identified for a specific market/segment, if a product SKU has changed within any of the price list values, if a price list is republished midmonth to fix an error, or if a product SKU has no changes within the price list values, respectively.
It's important for partners to ensure that any automation used for the ingestion of the price list spreadsheet is prepared to handle this extra column and its associated values. This feature will also be available via API, and both the UX and API experiences will support a price list in the current format and a price list with the net-new column for three months. After this period, all NCE license-based services price lists will incorporate the A/C/D/U column.
Another significant update is the introduction of end-of-sale (EOS) pricing. This feature will allow partners to fetch pricing for products that are still renewable but no longer available for net-new purchase. The EOS pricing feature will not disrupt current processes and can be adopted by CSP partners once it's generally available. Initially, this feature will be available via the Partner Center UX only, with API support planned for a later release.
Microsoft will be discussing these improvements in more detail on the CSP Partner Community Q&A calls in August 2024 and will walk through what partners can expect in the August 2024 CSP Technical Training Forum.
For any questions or clarifications on pricing, offer availability, and upgrades, migrations, and conversions, partners are encouraged to create a support request in Partner Center.
These improvements are a testament to Microsoft's commitment to enhancing the CSP experience for its partners. As we at Qloud Blog continue to monitor these developments, we encourage our readers to stay tuned for more updates on this front.
